Communications Committee Meeting 10/13/2010

In Attendance: Gib, Erin, Lisa, Paula, Glenda, Sandra

Donation requests:

• Received request for used cooking oil from a biodiesel startup. Since we don't currently have a deep fryer, we'll keep them in mind for the future.
• Volunteer Center of Greater Milwaukee requests donations for their "Holiday Giving Tree". They request cash donations in the $15-$25 range, with each cash donation getting a "gift tag" that they will later place on a gift. They require at least 10 "tags" per organization, so we're committing to 15 tags. We plan on getting donations from members and a "gift jar" at the register.

Events:

• Need volunteers for the Halloween Party!!!! Sign up at the register!
• Anniversary Party: At this point in time, we may go with a party (leaning towards the 14th of November) at Timbuktu, which has a regular band every Sunday. Lisa will talk to band and Timbuktu about this. We would just need someone to take donations at the door.

Advertising:

• Riverwest Guide: Received new ad rates that are much more within our budget. We will either go with a ¼ page or 1/3 page ad, $150 or $200 respectively. Glenda will decide on which size based on ad design/content. Since this is a publication we hope people will use and refer to for a long time, we feel it's worth the cost.
