Riverwest Co-op Communications Committee Meeting Minutes 2/23/11

 Donation Requests

ACLU - sent a letter soliciting sponsorships for its fundraising breakfast. They are looking for sponsors at the $1,000-$5,000 level, out of our range.

Schlitz Audubon Preschool pancake breakfast - Looking for food donations for March 26th pancake breakfast. Decided to donated several packages of Gimme Lean sausage. Erin will contact.

Wright Street Resource Center - Asked for food donations for their March pancake breakfast. Paula will talk to them about donating a bulk bottle of syrup from the cafe.

Ads

Riverside High School - Decided to take out a $60 half-page ad in the program for the spring musical “Grease.” Glenda will design ad, which will include a coupon for a free chocolate chip cookie with purchase.

Groupon - Riverwest Co-op will be featured on Groupon on March 8th, with a $7 for $15 coupon for food in the cafe.

Historic Milwaukee Walking Tour - In addition to being listed in the walking tour’s program as a place to eat during the tour, the Co-op decided to take out a $80 half page ad. Vince/Riverwest Currents has offered to pay for half the ad. Paula will confirm the ad with Historic Milwaukee; Glenda will design ad.

 Events

Chili Cookoff- Bad weather hurt attendance; Mi’Chilli was the winner. Gibson will submit report. Also still waiting on Spaghetti Dinner report from Gibson.

Riverwest Follies - March 5 at the Falcon. We should do a Follies-themed window display.

 10th Anniversary

-Erin is still working to contact National Promotions to get price quotes on corn mugs versus ceramic mugs.

-Cookbook committee met last week. The cookbook will be published in partnership with the Riverwest Currents via CreateSpace. Book will be in color, at a cost of $6.95 each. Size hasn’t been decided. Paula and Erin are working to gather former chef contact info from Shelly and Gibson. Next cookbook committee meeting is March 23.

-The committee would like to curate a 10 year photo retrospective to be on display in the cafe at some point. Need to put out a call for photographs from members and talk to Claire. Photos should also be featured in our online photo gallery.

2011 Budget

A draft 2011 budget has been drawn up; budget is mostly carried over from 2010, with an additional $1,000 included for 10th anniversary events and promotions.

 Website

-Paula would like to find some way to feature what is fresh in produce eat week in the store. Possibly a widget, or listing items on the Google calendar.

-Shelly has been working with a new local distributor; this would make a good feature for the website.
