Riverwest Co-op Communications Committee

Meeting Minutes 11/17/10

Ads

-December Riverwest Currents ad has been submitted. Theme was “Tastes of the Season” and featured local products.

-The Bay View Compass contacted us to see if we were interested in advertising in their holiday fair trade gift guide. Committee decided to go with a business-card sized ad for $75. Glenda will modify the general ad we developed for the Riverwest guide and submit it. Erin will makes sure the Compass gets paid.

-The Onion’s AV Club continues to solicit our advertising dollars. Committee will consider submitting an ad next year for their Riverwest businesses page. It was suggested that the ad quote the AV Club review of the café as “tastefully chaotic but friendly.”

 

Holiday Events

-We are all set up to begin collecting donations for the Volunteer Center’s Giving Tree right after thanksgiving. Erin will contact Silver Spring Neighborhood Center to see when gifts should be delivered and if there are any holiday events they would like us to participate in.

-Paula is planning local product tastings for Saturdays in December. Has talked to Rishi, the coconut oil people, and Wisconsin Honey Collective. Other brands suggested were Oskri and Simple Soyman.

 

Budget

-Committee has not updated our budget for several months. This needs to be done.

 

Donations

-The Riverwest Public House requested a gift basket donation for the silent auction at their November 23 fundraiser at Art Bar. Committee agreed on donation; Gibson will handle details.

 

Website

Paula announced that a new customer called the co-op to reserve a Yuppie Hill turkey after googling “organic turkeys” and finding our website.
