Communications Committee Meeting Minutes 08/25/2010

Donations and Requests

-Follow up on previous donations

-River Revitalization donation went out

-All People’s Parade donation went out

-No new info on Garvey Fest

-Farm Aid Restaurant guide request will be given to the Café, so they can decide on a special to serve as a Farm Aid benefit.

 

Ads

-No new info on Riverwest Guide.

-National Co-op Directory entry has been sent in, there is a possibility of a newsletter exchange with other co-ops listed.

-Will have a ad in the Riverwest Yogashala Calendar for 2011, there is a 60$ charge, Glenda has already made a design for ad. Waiting for final approval on ad.

-Riverwest Currents ad ideas: Harvest Theme and/or National Co-op Month.

 

Events

-Eat Local Milwaukee follow-up: Went well! Some coupons were distributed. Made some connections with other farmer’s markets and groups where we could advertise the co-op.

-MSOE Student Fair 9/20/2010: Will do table, probably distribute the “bring a friend” coupon, which will need a new expiration date for the event. We will be allowed to sell gift certificates. Would like to create a display of “student-friendly” foods.

-Center Street Daze: Theresa and Carolyn are coordinating. Applications for licenses have been submitted.

-Thinking about having a fundraiser for Co-op Month in October. Maybe include other co-ops like People’s Books and Just Coffee? Location possibilities include Stonefly and Mad Planet. Could be around Halloween? Lisa would like to get bands to donate their time to the event, perhaps the co-op could give bands a one-month discount at the store?

 

Website

-Want to make sure new info and updates are on the front page. Lisa and Erin are now doing the bulk of the website changes.

 

Interdependent:

-Reminder that articles are due September 1^st!

-May make a double issue of Summer and Fall.

 

We will be distributing Café menus, coupons, and Co-op info to teachers at Riverwest schools.
