Communication Committee Minutes 10-28-09
Present: Kevin Rux, Amanda D, Lisa Knapp
10/14 meeting minutes approved
The website was discussed for majority of meeting. Lisa will send out an e-mail request to Board members and the Workers Collective to get a “wish list” for the co-ops new website. For the “wish list”, the previously mentioned will be asked to list everything they would like to see for the website besides the initial list we decided on. Once the wish list is formed, Lisa will make an outline for the website that she will pass along to Kevin. Kevin has been given freedom of creativity in the website design, and will use the serviceberry as the main theme. The background of the website will be black because the color black uses significantly less power than standard white backgrounds. This will make it “greener”/more eco-friendly. For an example of how the black background will look check out the first website (eco runner) on Kevin’s portfolio page at http://arewex.com/. Kevin received his first payment installment of $100. Kevin will meet with us regularly to show us his progress and so Lisa can start inputting needed data (old minutes from all committees, etc.). He is unable to attend the next meeting, but will try to come to the one after that.
Lisa will look into getting banners printed before the party, one standard Co-op banner that can be used at future events as well, and one Happy Birthday banner (this one might be home made). Board members will be asked to be door greeters at the party in shifts through out the night. 4th Street Elevator and the Dim Peepers are officially playing the party. It is very likely that Street Life Brown will also be playing, and Lisa will verify that by the end of this week and will update the committee. Pinky and Gene from Dead Man’s Carnival were asked to MC the party and do carnival performances between band sets, and they are 98% sure they will be able to do it. Linneman’s will be asked to keep the hall non-smoking (where the stage is) and for smoking to only be allowed at the bar. We will also try to get a keg for the performers to drink for free for the evening that will be kept secluded from the public. It was also discussed that on top of the free beer we pay $25 per band. Lisa will talk to bands to see if they will be okay with only receiving beer for payment, otherwise we will pay them. Eleanor from the café will be making a marble birthday sheet cake for the party, for an estimated 100 people. We will also be getting birthday candles!
The Interdependent will be in print very soon (unsure of exact date). The next issue will mainly focus on the remodeling of the co-op and include projected floor plans and future plans for the new re-modeling, but we still need to come up with other article ideas. This should be though about before the next meeting. The Interdependent is officially Communications responsibility again.
December ad ideas for the Riverwest Currents needs to be thought about before the next meeting so we can get that out on time for the holidays. The ad ideas are officially Communications responsibility again.
Next meeting will be November 11 at 7pm
