Discussion points:
· The possibility of Paula transitioning from hourly to salaried.
· The question of what do to with accumulated banked hours at the end
of the year. Dawn will address this question in the next HRCOM mtg.
3. Chili Cook-Off
Reminder: it is on Sunday, February 19th. There are currently only two
people signed up to make chili for the event. We should be encouraging
staff, volunteers and customers to make chili for the event.
4. Volunteer of the Week: Sara Werling, who does a Tuesday shift. She
provides us with wonderful and random facts. Congratulations Sarah!
5. Volunteer update:
· We’ve had many new volunteers the past two weeks. No noted problems.
· We have created a RWCP Softball team: the Seitan Phillies! Games
being in May/June. Players should be volunteers / staff, but the larger
co-op community is invited to participate. Cost of registration was
$190.00. There will be an additional “ball charge” of $35 - $45.
6. Communications Committee Reportback:
· Carolyn Weber will be putting on a workshop on making yogurt in
March. She’s be using products available at the RWCP. Her project will
fit into a “Monthly Skillshare” project the Comm Comm began discussing.
· We discussed organizing a “Meet the Farmer” event for February.
7. “The Shitter” returns to the co-op.
We received another visit from the person who has come to be know as “The
Shitter” [heretoafter referred to as TS] for his bathroom behavior. At
approximately 11am on Friday morning the 27th of January, he entered the
store. Nichali confronted him near the door and insisted he leave. After
some reluctance, he did. Soon after, the El Rey delivery truck arrived and
TS began speaking with them. Nichali asked TS to allow the delivery persons
to do their work. He adopted an aggravated tone and made a gesture that may
or may not have been belligerent in nature. The situation was quickly
defused when the delivery people finished their work and he left.
No store changes will be made due to this incident.
8. Alarm system. To the unfortunate surprise of a few café openers, the
alarm has been improperly set the previous night. Mia and Dawn will address
this issue with café staff.
9. Walk-in cooler.
· Paula will follow up with Fein bros. regarding the free shelving
units they are giving us.
· Paula will also investigate the cost of purchasing permanent
shelving units.
· Volunteers will be taught to be checking out the produce cooler
during their shift and keeping it consistently filled.
10. Volunteer party.
It was agreed that the volunteer party on Saturday was very enjoyable, and
that we should have another one in the not-too-immediate future. Huzzah!
